WowWee's Fingerlings are adorable, but when it comes to the rapidly-expanding brand, I think a lot of the spin-off products are even better than the sought-after robotic animals. In fact, I'm looking at a glittery plush Fingerling right here in my office as I type this - and I love it! But now comes the next thing - the retail launch of Fingerlings HUGS, the first-ever special feature plush edition of the award-winning Bella and Boris Fingerlings Baby Monkeys. It's electronics + plush, and priced at just $29.99, we could be looking at another much-wished-for item as we roll into the holiday season. Here's what WowWee has to say about these...
Really liked this hatchimal! We did have to finally help it out of its shell because it didn’t crack all the way. Not sure if that was my child’s doing or the product so for that I still have it a 5 rating. We’ve had it almost a year and still going strong. Not played with as much after a couple months but still works and comes alive when my son comes across it
It's the new Christmas toy tradition: all the major stores release their own list of the toys they believe will be bestsellers in the run up to 25 December. But are any of these 'top toys' any good? We take a good long look at the most recommended buys as the lists come out – the 2018 Argos list and the Toy Fair Hero Toys list already have – and single out the toys we think are definitely worth their place on your child's wishlist. And when this year's lists from Amazon, Hamleys, DreamToys, Argos, John Lewis, The Entertainer, and Tesco and more appear, we'll add the best of those in, too.
Kano, a company that strives to produce educational toys that teach STEM, procured a licensing deal involving the Harry Potter franchise in 2018. As a result, they introduced the Harry Potter coding kit. Kids can build their own wand using the kit, which they can then use to control action on a computer or television screen. Moving the wand in a certain way causes events like bells ringing and owls appearing. Kids have the option of over 70 "wizard challenges" to help them master their homemade wands.
For the third year in a row, Hatchimals are dominating the holiday toy scene. Adrienne Appell of the Toy Association has seen the large (about the size of a big grapefruit) speckled eggs that hatch baby animals skyrocket. “The new toy from Hatchimals is something that’s seeing a lot of buzz. We’ve seen a lot of interest from both boys and girls.” When you buy one of these HatchiBabies, the surprise is whether it will be a boy or a girl. So in addition to brushing, feeding, and petting your toy, you can host your own gender-reveal party.
Now that we’re all on the same page in regards to Poopsy Unicorn Slime, it only makes sense that one of the up-and-comers this season is the ‘designer’ Pooey Puitton purse that comes with 2 unicorn slime powder packets (yes, it makes rainbow poop), 6 unicorn magic packets, 4 sparkle packets, 4 mystery packets, and so much more!  Plus, they’ll totally want that exclusive poop character keychain because who can leave home without it!?  Learn more here.

Believe it or not, Barbie DreamHouse's are still a thing. This modern version of a classic holiday toy measure 3' tall and over 4' wide so it is massive! Barbie can get up to her bedroom using the elevator or perhaps its time to do work in her home office. Whatever your child imagines Barbie can do we know they'll be playing with this for years to come. And of course, mom and dad will get in on the Barbie fun too.

Poppy is one of a series of interactive doll trolls. Poppy comes with a bracelet, which interacts with Poppy – lighting up her hair to a musical beat and also lighting up her own bracelet. Press Poppy’s tummy and she’ll talk (OK, she’ll say 25 phrases), dance and sing. As you would expect from any self-respecting troll, you can brush her magnificent pink mane and style it.

I have wanted to get one of these for my niece for a long time, but I've hesitated because the fact is that they don't always work, and when they do, they don't always work correctly. I told her parents that it might not go right, and to explain this to her when we gave it to her. Fortunately she understands that things don't always happen the way we plan, and she can handle some disappointment.
"Fingerlings HUGS are true softies when it comes to affection, with long arms that are perfect for big snuggles and cozy hugs. Kids can swing these cuddle monkeys for a silly reaction, shake them for a funny fart, or pat their back for a crazy burp! But that's not all...New to Fingerlings HUGS is WowWee's unique and proprietary KissTech™ technology. Just press your HUGS' mouth to your cheek or skin and you'll get a big smooch in return! The longer you hold it, the longer the kiss will last. You'll even get different types of kisses when you hold your HUGS in different ways - right-side up, upside down, or on its back. And, you can talk to your HUGS too! With TalkBack technology, just hold down your HUGS' ear to share a sweet message, and they'll repeat it back in its own silly voice!"

Ok so these spiders actually are pretty cute!  They’re new, from Hasbro, and there are 10 different ones to collect!  They’re interactive, voice activated, and move faster or slower based on how loud (or soft) you are!  All are different colors and have different personalities, plus they can totally interact with each other when all put in a setting together.  Think of how much fun it will be to race them!  Learn more about Yellies here.
The Scruff-a-Luvs from Moose Toys are a mystery at first. Each comes as a matted ball of fur, showing only its eyes. To reveal your rescue animal (dog, cat or bunny), simply wash it in water, towel dry, blast dry it with a hair dryer, and brush and style its fur. Each plush comes with a collar, name tag, adoption certificate, brush and hair clips. For ages 4 and older. $19.99 at moosetoys.com.
My mother got one for each of my girls, 4 in total. Each one likes it for a different reason, and at ages 1-10 it's incredible that they are all as obsessed as they are! My youngest loves to cuddle it, use it as a pillow, and is just tickled when it makes the kissing noises at her (she makes them back, every time). My 7 year old likes to swing it around and wear it as a necklace, it's just as active as she is. My 9 year old likes to make it say funny things in as many different voices, pitches, and accents as she can dream up, also she enjoys the more gross noises it makes, and coming from a kid in this generation (I mean, c'mon, poo emoji pillows are a thing! Eew!) I'm not as surprised as I should be. My 10 year old likes to try to figure out how to make it do everything it can possibly do, and to put it in poses so she can draw it. Best of all, the kids were so enthralled with their new buddies they didn't miss grandma so much when she was in the hospital having surgery, because she gave them something they can hug, kiss and cuddle to think of her! If only it came in more characters and colors, but I suppose that will come in time!

Not to stress you out or anything, but in the wake of hundreds of Toys ‘R’ Us store closures (we may see a comeback from the retailer in the future but sadly not in time for this holiday season), planning ahead this year is even more essential to holiday shopping success. You’re going to need all the help you can get. Note: We’ve also got gift guides for kids of all ages, including 1-year-olds, 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds, 4-year-olds, 5-year-olds, 7-year-olds, 8-year-olds, and 9-year-olds. Below, we talked to experts to find the toys you should know about — and what to stock up on before they’re all gone.

Because kids love poop jokes.  Even though you may ban potty humor in your house, this is still slated to be the “must-play” game of 2018.  Simply set up the poop mat, place the various clay poops in different place, blindfold the kiddos and have them see how far they can make it without “stepping in it.”  You may want to get in on the fun yourself.  #PoopFTW!  There’s also a new unicorn edition of the game here!
But be sure to encourage the grandparents to find this toy. That way, when this interactive toy inevitably comes alive sporadically like my children's other talking toys, farting in darkness, or snoring when no one is around, you won't be the one calling the priest, your mother will. It serves her right for not waiting in 1993 to get you the Crimp and Curl Cabbage Patch Doll that you so desperately wanted, all because she didn't have the fortitude to throw some elbows. This is all hypothetical, by the way. I'm sure my mother tried. (Just not very hard.) She'd totally go bananas on the queue for her grandkids, though, so I'm sure they'll be getting the Fingerlings Hugs. At this point, I kind of want one, too.
These Hatchimals share a special bond! They play games, laugh and have fun together! While one sings, the other will dance! Put them face-to-face and they’ll recognize each other! One will chirp I love you and the other will respond with I love you, too! Separate them for too long and one twin will call out for the other! After all, twin time is the best time!

All your kids unicorn dreams are coming to life this season!  Yep, this is an actual electric unicorn that your kiddo can sit on and ride around the house (or outside).  This magical wonder goes backwards and forwards by using the reigns and can go up to 3 mph. Plus the unicorn horn lights up.  Awesome!  This is a hot item so feel free to check availability on Amazon here.  And you can learn more about My Lovely Unicorn here.
My granddaughter has a lot of L.O.L. dolls and she says this is great. She wanted to give it 10 stars. It has 2 big sisters, 1 little sister , 1 pet, 2 hats, 6 outfits, 6 pairs of shoes and 18 wigs. She loves the wigs. 6 are like real hair and 12 hairwraps that go on like a helmet. The pet comes with an outfit too. The container itself they came in will store a whole lot of dolls and clothes.
Seriously how cute is Ricky the trick loving pup!?  He’s new from FurReal and totally interactive.  In fact, not only does he respond with over 100 sounds and motions, but he actually performs the cutest little tricks ever like flipping his bone, ‘shaking paws’ with you, barking a catchy little tune, and so much more!  Did we mention he’s affectionate too?  The kiddos can help ‘train’ him and reward him with treats.  When they do that, Ricky the pup will eat them and, well, when they pet his back he’ll poop them out.  This one comes with 18 dog treats, a treat pouch, and a fun little bone toy too!  We love him!
This Echo Dot Kids Edition offers all the awesome abilities of the adult Echo Dot, but it comes with features and safeguards that make it just right for kids. For starters, it comes in a variety of great, vibrant colors, so it’s got a cool factor, and it will keep them entertained for hours by playing music, answering questions and telling stories and jokes aplenty. It gives them access to more than 300 Audible books, like Beauty and the Beast and Peter Pan, and there’s a ton of educational content available too.
We can’t wait to bust this guy out of his crate and, well, your kids will too!  They’ll use the crowbar (that comes with it) to pop open that lock and release this little monster from his prison!  He’ll even make over 45 different sounds and when he’s turned upside down, dropped, or knocked over.  When they pull his tongue, he’ll make funny noises, vibrate, and his eyes will glow.  Even better, your kids can record their voice and this creature will play back their message in their own ‘creature voice.’  There are a bunch of different Crate Creatures to choose from too.  See all the options here!
His mom Ruth writes “His cardiologist claims that he now has the heart of an athlete, but we know as CHD mothers that there is always the possibility of that changing. I have raised Keegan in an unlimiting manner, not making his disability hinder him from trying any sport or physical activity that interests him. He is brave and strong, and truly a little fighter; thus the reason why I named him Keegan. He is well aware of his limitations and of his condition, but refuses to let it stop him from being a great and accomplished kid. May this give hope to those that have TGA babies, there is quality life after CHD.”

There are a lot of different things you can do with your Fingerlings Hugs. It has Velcro paws that you can connect for a monkey hug. And when you press your Fingerlings Hugs' mouth to your skin, you'll hear a kiss. Throw the monkey in the air or spin it around for fun reactions. Give it a shake or pat its back for some silly and gross reactions. It will even repeat what you say in a monkey voice when you press and hold its left ear. Hold it upside down and shake it for more funny sounds and press your fingers against its mouth to hear it blow a raspberry. And if your Fingerlings is lying down, you can tickle it, hear it blow you a sleepy kiss, and rock it to sleep.

Cozmo by Anki Robotics is one sophisticated little bot. While he may come with a bit of a steep price tag there’s a whole lot of advanced robotics in a little package. Cozmo (age 8 and up) is easy to use and can be set up in four simple steps. He comes with three blocks that Cozmo and kids can play games with. Download the app and kids (and adults) can interact with countless games, Cozmo controls, camera and more. He has so much personality that one forgets that they are playing with a robot as he starts to feel more like a super fun pet. He expresses happiness, excitement, frustration, anger and sadness through two very emotive blue eyes and various noises. Cozmo has facial recognition that allows him to recognize and say the name of all his friends. This is only a small portion of all the cool things Cozmo is capable of doing. He is a lot of brain in a little—and adorable—package.

If you're planning on giving this to a child for Christmas, you might want to save it for the day after, or do it on Christmas Eve or something. This process takes 30 minutes or so, and you've got so much other stuff happening on Christmas Day that it's going to be difficult get the kid to sit still for it and for you to enjoy watching it happen. The hatching is what they want to see, and if the grandparents and cousins and the rest are all there and the movies are going, nobody is going to see anything.
