It’s more like a cross between a Furby and a Tamagotchi. Remember Tamagotchi, the tiny digital pet you hatched out of a virtual egg and took care of? David McDonald, one of the designers who helped create Hatchimal, does. “I had always wanted to do something that hatches,” McDonald told The Verge in a previous interview. “I always thought that Tamagotchi had dropped the ball — they had a neat idea, but never took it any further, into the real world.”

If you remember the Christmas craze last year for the cute little Fingerlings Monkeys, well Wowwee upped their game and literally just released their new line of Fingerlings called “Untamed Raptors.”  These dinosaur toys are cute and ferocious all at the same time.  They’ll interact with your kid, wrap around their little finger, learn to talk and roar in dino babble and, based on how they’re taken care of will depend what kind of dino personality you get!  This is, for sure, to be one of the hot toy request for Christmas 2018.  Grab them while you can at a normal price.

Amongst the slime, sand, unicorns, pugs (and pugs that are also unicorns), there were some gems at this year's London Toy Festival. The week-long mega toy fest that determines a lot of how the £3.4bn ($4.7bn) industry will fair in 2018 and (somewhat) in 2019. Fewer STEM and STEAM toys than I expected but they were there. The gender divide is still well and truly alive and well (although mainly perpetuated by demo-ers and stereotypical imagery in the main). Amongst the licensed toys (look out for new Turtles, Incredibles...everywhere and Nickelodeon properties to be particularly strong although most were under NDA so...no pics), here are the best things I saw walking around that kids (and big kids) will be parents and Santa asking for this year.
A fun little ‘toy’ for all the tech kids out there who are always on their phones or tablets!  This cute PopSocket has the message ‘Choose Kindness’ on the top with a cartoon-like rainbow.  In a world that could use some gentle reminders, we think this is the friendly thought our kids could see each and every day and hopefully always remember to choose kindness.  There’s also a cute magical unicorn one too!

Okay, so there are two parts to this claim. The first includes reports about Hatchimals muttering “fuck me” while snoozing in their eggs. This is stupid. Before the Hatchimal breaks free of its egg, you can sometimes here it snoring loudly in its incubator. It’s a little sigh coupled with a hard “e” sound that, at best, would sound like a bleeped version of the aforementioned vulgar phrase. Some people think it sounds like “hug me.”

Just in time for the ho-ho-holidays, LOL Surprise has come out with the official LOL Surprise BIG SURPRISE that has been kept under such tight wraps that people are basically calling up psychics to see if they know what’s inside this clever little egg. One of the major things now that we know what’s inside is another cute little collectible doll with 50 (FIFTY!) surprises in each of them. Here’s the breakdown:

Churches that baptize babies often have a practice called "confirmation." People are baptized as babies, but later when they get old enough to understand and make their own choice about serving God, they are taught and are asked to publicly "confirm" their faith and their desire to live for God. The very existence of such a practice is an admission that the child did not understand, believe, and repent before he was baptized.

On a whole new level of mystery toy unboxing are radical reveals. “Toy companies are ditching basic blind bags and coming up with really cool ways for kids to unbox surprise toys, such as digging through clay, adding water for fizzing reactions, and more.” says Schacht. Wowzer Surprise Magical Pets are snow globes full of bubbles called Orbeez that obscure each pet. To reveal the surprise all you have to do is pour water into the top which “magically” makes the bubbles disappear. Inside you’ll find unicorns, rabbits, chickens, rainbow fish, and a whole lot more.
We think it’s safe to say, kids are obsessed with all things L.O.L Surprise and so another ‘must have’ has made our list.  This big one has over 15 amazing little surprises inside, two pet babies, and even one pet baby charm or food baby charm.  That’s just part of the fun surprise! There are even really cool accessories to wear like spy glasses, a necklace that becomes a bracelet and more!  You totally need to complete their LOL set with this one!
When you first unbox your Scruff-a-Luv, they’re curled up in a matted ball of fur. It’s up to you to give them a nice bath to wash their matted fur—any child-friendly soap or body wash will work. Once they are washed, squeeze the water from their fur and towel dry them. You can also use a hair dryer to fluff up their coat, just like a pet salon would! Similar to a real rescue animal, the more love you give them, the more loving they will be in return. Watch as Scruff-a-Luv comes back to life with love and affection!
An impressive little unit that is a great introduction to coding and robotics. There is no screen and no tablets or smartphone apps - Botley just works and helps young people understand coding and logic. Program Botley to move forward, turn, detect objects and much more, this is a toy that will keep young minds engaged and charged. Great customization options and tons of accessories to extend play and learning. Money well spent.

Last year, we scoured the aisles of every local toy fair to get the scoop on which toys would likely sell out fast during Christmas and the holidays, driving parents on crazy last-minute hunts for sparkly eggs, squishy fake food, and tiny interactive baby monkeys. This year, looking for an even deeper level of insider information, we reached out to trend experts for their opinions on what toys would top the charts of holiday season 2018 (hint: Hatchimals are still very hot).

There are a lot of different things you can do with your Fingerlings Hugs. It has Velcro paws that you can connect for a monkey hug. And when you press your Fingerlings Hugs' mouth to your skin, you'll hear a kiss. Throw the monkey in the air or spin it around for fun reactions. Give it a shake or pat its back for some silly and gross reactions. It will even repeat what you say in a monkey voice when you press and hold its left ear. Hold it upside down and shake it for more funny sounds and press your fingers against its mouth to hear it blow a raspberry. And if your Fingerlings is lying down, you can tickle it, hear it blow you a sleepy kiss, and rock it to sleep.

The Bible describes different degrees of faith (Heb. 10:39; cf. Jas. 2:19; John 12:42,43; Matt. 14:31). Children gradually grow in understanding and in faith, but they do not have "saving" faith, sufficient to be baptized, until they are old enough to repent, confess, and fully accept the responsibility of living the Christian life, as we have already studied.
These could be improved if they could somehow hatch more than once, or if they could have more of the functionality of the Furbies that would mimic your speech. Maybe give them bluetooth speaker functionality or make them into night lights. As they are, they just sit there after they hatch, so they're a terrible value. I have to give these things a skip it.
No two eggs are the same, so if you are buying for multiple children they will love mixing and matching the surprises they find inside. Inside the egg there's a variety of kid-friendly surprises including limited edition figures, squishy slime, and a lights and sounds vehicle. The plastic egg is easy for kids to open by themselves, and no assembly is required. Ideal for ages 3 and up.
Now this is one of the biggest surprises that’s most anticipated for the upcoming holiday season!  You can officially order it right now, since it’s finally been released to the public!  This one comes with over 60 new never-before-seen surprises, all with exclusive dolls and the cutest accessories ever!  This is the perfect one to add to their collection and, hopefully, you can get your hands on it before it’s gone! I'm torn on how to review this. When they initially get it and open it, it's soooooooo exciting and fun. Hatching it was a lot of fun! Then going through the different stages with it the first, and even second time are a lot of fun. But then that's kind of it. They haven't played with it since. It was fun for all of us immediately, but then it like, ok, it doesn't do anything different and now we're bored. I mean, the hatching is super fun and the most exciting part, but that can't be repeated.
Eh. We bought into the hype and I thought this would be a cute idea since they’re twins, but... these hatchimals do not move around like the original. One twin has almost a bobble head and you can push its head down and the other twin is supposed to dance, but ours just kind of shakes and is extremely loud. Whatever components are inside that twin just make a really annoying buzzing sound, so playing with it is extremely frustrating because you can barely hear what it’s saying. These are a lot worse than the first hatchimal from last year and are a little confusing too. Each twin has its own set of rules to follow, so for children under 7-8, understanding what the eye color means will probably be difficult, if not frustrating. I can really only be disappointed with myself for ordering this

So much fun for the whole fam.   The players draw cards until someone draws an “Exploding Kitten” (which is when they explode) and they are out of the game, unless that player has a defuse card, which can defuse the Kitten using things like laser pointers, belly rubs, and catnip sandwiches.  It’s really so funny and perfect for ages 7+. Get it here while you can!
Great messy (and will planned-out) fun. Comes with protective googles and gloves, plus the tools, ingredients and step-by-step instructions to make an invisible monster, slimy snakes, sludgy goo, slime balls and, of course, slimy bogies. Science at its most yuck and yeah, this won a very deserved Bronze award in the Best Science Toys category in our MadeForMums Toy Awards 2017.
Kids will learn how to help nurture the Hatchibaby in different situations, using both its touch-sensitive areas (forehead, feet) and the included accessories. For example, the cuddle buddy can sooth a sad or sleepy HatchiBaby, and kids can feed a hungry HatchiBaby with the bottle. Just be sure to read the instructions carefully for the right way to give the HatchiBabies these objects, or they won’t work.
Kids can role play with this movie-inspired mask featuring augmented reality (AR) technology. Simply download the Hero Vision app, place a compatible device inside the AR goggles, place markers around the play area and put on the mask to see digital images from the superhero's world. The set comes with the mask, goggles, a gauntlet, three AR markers and one Infinity Stone. For ages 8 and older. Price: $49.99 at shop.hasbro.com.
Now, the whole point of this toy is watching it hatch. It comes with little games you can play, but the kids don't care about that. They want to watch it hatch. After they watch it hatch, they leave it on a shelf and watch videos of other hatchimals hatching. I know because that's what my niece wanted to do. That wasn't just because she was bored with it, although that was part of it. It was because hers didn't come completely out of the shell and we had to manually dig it out.
That was kind of a let-down for something in this price range. The quality of the Hatchimal itself is on the higher end of what I'd expect to see at Five Below. It'll make a bunch of noise, and cry for a while, but it doesn't seem to do much more than that if you aren't carrying around the color-coded brochure that tells you that the happy-sounding noise it's making is really that the Hatchimal is sick, because the eyes turned green. So, you're supposed to touch its forehead and pet it.
That’s right folks, the people that brought you Hatchimals present, LuvaBella, an interactive baby doll that laughs when you tickle her, learns how to say certain words when you feed and play with her and, well, just about has the most life-like reactions and features we’ve ever seen on a doll.  Some say creepy, we say “futuristic.”   These were all the rage last year, but are much easier to get this year.
Hello Shardian, we're sorry to hear about your experience with your Hatchimals. The beeping noise you are referencing is an indication that the batteries are low in that Hatchimal. We recommend replacing the batteries. So here is where the 3 stars come in, my 6 year old loves it. Even with the less than fantastic start, once he started playing with her, he has thanked me for getting him a hatichamal about once an hour. He loves the little paper that tells you about it's mood by eye colors. He also adores that it comes with a rattle, a cuddle buddy, brush and a bottle. Each of them make Hatchy respond (he likes making it sing and dance). It's so very sweet watching him take care of it, and that 'juuust' makes it worth it to me.
Experience a hatch! As you cuddle, rub and tap your HatchiBaby’s egg, they’ll really come to life! The more EGG-cited your HatchiBaby gets, the more it will rock back and forth – all on its own! Your HatchiBaby will even respond to you with sweet sounds. But don’t forget – they need your help to hatch! Play with them in-egg until you see rainbow eyes. That means it’s hatching time!

It wouldn’t be a holiday without mass hysteria over the latest announcement from the Hatchimals folks.  Hot off the press (and already one of the most anticipated toys of the season) meet ‘HatchiBabies.’  That’s right.  They’re babies!  And this time you won’t know if you’re hatching a baby boy or a baby girl. It’s like a true gender reveal so get those cameras rolling! They also have a secret compartment (and companions) as an added bonus inside that famous speckled egg for extra fun this year.  They’re up for pre-order right now so you might as well get it while you can!  Learn more here.

It began in 2013, where Spin Master's head of robotic creations James Bartin explained that his team hated the popularity of unboxing videos on YouTube, and envisioned a concept for a toy that could "unbox" itself.[1] This idea evolved into a concept for a robotic creature that would hatch itself from an egg, necessitating the design of a mechanism for the hatching, and a material for the egg itself. Hatchimals was officially launched on October 7, 2016, backed by advertising on television and digital platforms, such as social networking services.[1][2]
It's the new Christmas toy tradition: all the major stores release their own list of the toys they believe will be bestsellers in the run up to 25 December. But are any of these 'top toys' any good? We take a good long look at the most recommended buys as the lists come out – the 2018 Argos list and the Toy Fair Hero Toys list already have – and single out the toys we think are definitely worth their place on your child's wishlist. And when this year's lists from Amazon, Hamleys, DreamToys, Argos, John Lewis, The Entertainer, and Tesco and more appear, we'll add the best of those in, too.

If they’re not into ride-on unicorns, this is the ride-on animal for them! Meet Scout the Pony!  He makes over 100 unique sounds and motions and is totally interactive (and so cute).  You can feed it, walk it, ride it, and watch it perform a very special dance.  Plus, Scout’s ears, eyes, and head moves.  You can even hear Scout make cute little munching sounds when you feed him.  We just assumed it was a ‘he’ but could totally be a ‘she.’  You decide!  This one is hard to come by and is already the ‘must have’ for this upcoming holiday.  If you’re having a hard time finding it, be sure to check out Amazon too.
To celebrate the new release, Spin Master will be hosting a special event for Hatchimals Day in Los Angeles. From Oct. 5 to 7, LA locals can visit The Grove to see a pop-up Hatchery Nursery and be the first to meet some of the new HatchiBabies. Kids can also engage in some exciting Hatchimals-inspired activities with some special guests: two of Nickelodeon's biggest stars, Daniella Perkins and Lilimar Hernandez of Knight Squad.
"August marks one year since the introduction of Fingerlings, and we're really excited that we have the opportunity to continue to deliver the interactivity of this toy to children in new and different ways," said Sydney Wiseman, creator of Fingerlings and brand manager at WowWee. "The response we've received to Fingerlings has been remarkable, so we took a lot of the technology used in the original fingertip friends and built it up to include additional innovative features like KissTech and TalkBack technology, packaged in a cuddly plush that we know kids will love."
